MBA Eligibility Requirements
- Participation in sports programs sponsored by MBA is open only to Mountain Brook residents whose children are eligible to attend Mountain Brook City Schools.
- MBA sports programs are generally organized by grade. Children may participate only in the grade level in which they are currently enrolled, and, with one limited exception, may not participate in a higher grade level. If it is necessary for the child to participate in a higher grade level during the MBA season in order to become eligible to participate in a post season tournament that is sponsored by or affiliated with MBA, and the child would not otherwise be eligible to participate in the post season tournament at his own grade level, the child will be permitted to participate in the next highest grade level during the MBA season. Presently, this limited exception applies only to boys who desire to participate in the Metro Baseball Tournament and are too old to participate at their grade level.
- All children participating in MBA sports programs must provide a waiver of liability form signed by their parent or legal guardian. This waiver of liability form is included on the registration form used by MBA.
- Eligibility to participate in MBA sports programs is subject to suspension or revocation by the board of Mountain Brook Athletics, Inc. for failure to comply with the rules, policies, and regulations of MBA that may be promulgated from time to time, including rules regarding the conduct of participants.
- Any questions regarding eligibility should be addressed to the overall commissioner of the sport in question, the executive director of Mountain Brook Athletics, or any member of the board of directors.
