Mountain Brook Athletics, Inc. ("MBA") is a non-profit organization engaged in the activity of sponsoring youth sports programs in a variety of sports for both boys and girls residing in the City of Mountain Brook. The sports programs currently sponsored by MBA include football, flag football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, and tennis for boys, and softball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and cheerleading for girls. MBA is operated, managed, and governed by parent volunteers who serve on the board of directors, and in various other positions including coaches, commissioners, team mothers, and concession workers.
Participation in MBA sports programs is open to children who are residents of Mountain Brook and who are eligible to attend Mountain Brook City Schools. Most sports sponsored by MBA are organized by grade level. Each sport operates under the guidance of an overall commissioner who is appointed by and reports to the MBA board of directors. Grade level commissioners, selected by the overall commissioner for the particular sport, oversee each grade level within the sport. The grade level commissioners report to the overall commissioner for their sport. Team coaches are selected by and report to the grade level commissioner for their sport and grade level. Parents with questions or concerns regarding a particular sport should contact the grade level commissioner for their sport and grade level.
Registration for the sports programs sponsored by MBA occurs at various times throughout the year. Information regarding registration dates and times is disseminated by both regular mail and e-mail, and is posted on the MBA website.
